INFORMATION FOR SPEAKERS
Sunday Mornings with ICSS is a project of the Institute for the Critical Study of Society (ICSS). Since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, we have met via Zoom with our Program Committee assuming responsibility for scheduling and other matters.
We welcome individuals and groups of various political and intellectual tendencies to propose programs. The opinions expressed are those of the speakers only and not of the Program Committee.
Program proposals. Please include a desired date, brief title, a descriptive blurb of about 50-100 words, and brief bios of the speakers. You may include links to a few articles that you think would be of value for people to read. Your audience may include newcomers as well as seasoned socialists of various orientations. For examples of program announcements, see https://icssmarx.org/post-by-descenting-date/
Send proposals to Eugene E Ruyle (Email: cuyleruyle@mac.com, Tel: 510- 332-3865) or to Raj Sahai email: rsahai1987@gmail.com. You proposal, will be reviewed and, if accepted, format/edit by the committee.
Logistics. Programs run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm PT and are moderated by a member of the Program Committee. We ask presenters to log in earlier, by 10:15 to check connections, etc. The formal presentation is normally 45-50 minutes. Please let us know in advance if you will be using PowerPoint, videos, or other media; we may be able to offer technical assistance.
After announcements, the second half of the program is normally a Q&A with questions/ comments of 2-3 minutes. Usually, the presenter may give a final 5-minute commentary at the end. The formal program ends at 12:30 pm, but our waiting room is usually open for informal discussion for another half hour.
Fund raising. We do not charge admission to our programs, nor do we do fundraisers for other organizations.
Publicity. The program announcement will be included in our weekly email reminders sent every Thursday to over 500 subscribers. The Zoom link for each program will be included in the reminder for that week. We don’t do additional advertising, but encourage our presenters to do additional outreach on their listservs, etc. For security reasons, we ask that the Zoom link NOT be posted on any website. Please attribute the program to the ICSS in the publicity. Programs are recorded on Zoom and posted on our website (ICSSMARX.ORG and our YouTube channel (ICSS MARXIST)
