The US and Israel attacked, deceiving Iran, on 28 February 2026, while Iran was in negotiations with the US. The attack targeted and killed the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, most of his close family members and 40 other high government and military leaders in the official residence of the Leader in Tehran.
In a separate attack, US missiles killed a minimum of more than 165 very young girls attending school in Southern Iran. But the opposite happened. Within hours, Iran struck back forcefully at the US military bases in the Gulf Sheikhdoms and Israel. After three weeks of the start of war, Iran is fighting with strength and controls the OIl and Gas energy passing through Hormuz Strait, with the result that prices, around $70 per barrel prior to war are over $100 per barrel and may go up to $200 a barrel if the war continues much longer. Russia and China are militarily involved on the side of Iran in this war. What are the implications for the emerging multipolar world from this war? .
